Intrinsme:
A portmanteau created from the words intrinsic and me; self-care as a natural state of living instead of being seen as self-indulgent.
Intrinsme is an LGBTQ Black-Owned Company. We are a collective of family pariahs, comic nerds, and corporate professionals who create therapeutic resources.
We are the muse to help you author your de-construction of hurt and trauma as well as the reconnection to yourself. Join us on this journey to radical healing by reducing your self-saboteur to seek rewards from within.
Before I jump into why I created Intrinsme, here’s a few things about myself…
I love horror movies and comics. I am a self-proclaimed foodie and dog lover, and I have seen Erykah Badu in concert 7 times! I was born and raised in Chicago, IL, and I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Counseling Psychology at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I currently have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and I am a Certified Payroll Professional through the American Payroll Association. During the day, I am the Director of People Operations for a data analytics company.
I started Intrinsme to create a safe space for People of Color and LGBTQ individuals to feel seen and heard when it comes to our mental health.
Intrinsme was initially supposed to just be a journal, what we now know as the Remedy Journal, to help me reduce my anxiety during the pandemic and get the most out of my therapy sessions. As time went on, Intrinsme morphed into a community platform that I knew needed space in this world to help others.
Regardless of where you are in your mental wellness journey, you are welcome! I want you to know that whatever stage you’re at, you are not alone. Breaking free from trauma is a process, but it is a forward-moving one. It might be one of the most complex dances you’ll experience in your life, but the music never stops. We may have experienced hurt, but we are not victims.
