What is Intrinsme?
Intrinsme IS self-care as a natural state of living instead of being seen as self-indulgent.
The Word is a portmanteau created from the words ‘iNtrinsic’ and ‘me’.

Hi, I’m
Rahshonda Kirkwood, LPC
Hi, I’m Rahshonda Kirkwood, a Licensed Professional Counselor and the founder of Intrinsme and Mosaic Healing Space. These initiatives were born from my passion for creating safe, inclusive spaces where People of Color and LGBTQIA+ individuals can feel truly seen, heard, and supported on their mental health journeys.
Intrinsme began as a personal project during the pandemic, inspired by my own experiences. I developed what is now known as The Remedy Journal, a powerful tool for self-discovery and healing. Originally created to help me manage anxiety and make the most of my therapy sessions, The Remedy Journal has since evolved into a resource for others seeking clarity, growth, and wellness.

I was born and raised in Chicago, IL, and earned my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. During my training, I completed my internship at Turning Point Behavioral Community Center, where I developed a deeper understanding of the complexities of mental health and community care. To me, therapy is a continuous journey of healing and self-discovery. My role is to walk alongside you as a compassionate and supportive guide, helping navigate life’s uncertainties. I approach therapy through a strengths-based, person-centered lens, rooted in holistic and humanistic principles. My practice is informed by cultural competence, ensuring care that is inclusive and deeply empathetic. Outside of work, I’m an avid horror movie fan and comic enthusiast. I also consider myself a dedicated foodie and a proud dog lover.
Fun fact: I’ve attended Erykah Badu’s concerts nine times—and I’m always ready for the next one!
